Tools for education, everywhere.
So we build them: courses, coursework, exams and grades, in one system.
Our mission is to make room for every way of teaching and learning.
Supporting educators
Make the software the easy part of teaching, so a teacher’s hours go to the class.
Enlightening learners
Give every student a clear view of their learning, so progress is something they can see.
Strengthening schools
Give a school the structure and the records to run a term, so nothing rests on one memory.
A new era for learning tools
There is a kind of software that was plainly made by people who cared. It is hard to describe and impossible to put a number on, but anyone who has used it knows the feeling: it is quick, it says what it means, and it never makes you fight it.
School software is rarely that. It is chosen by one person and used by three hundred, and it shows — forms that ask the same thing twice, screens nobody can use without training, a report only one person in the building knows how to produce. The cost is an evening a week, taken from the people with the least to spare.
Lena launched in 2024 with a different standard: technology should support teaching and learning so naturally that it never becomes the work. That gives educators more room to teach, and learners more room to grow.
How we think and work
Ship early
Simplify and ship smaller. A thing in use teaches us more in a week than a plan does in a month, and most of what we cut to get it out turns out to be work nobody wanted. Don’t fix every problem on the way.
Build with customers
Sit with the schools running Lena and listen past the feature they asked for to the problem underneath it. The ones we build with are the ones who use it, love it and defend it.
Build with care
Know what good looks like, and know what has to change to get there. Decide from principles, not playbooks. Put the care into the foundation rather than making it a future person’s problem.
Keep the team small
We build better with fewer people. Hire the best, wear several hats, and work remotely wherever you are. Say things plainly and assume good intentions.
