4Migration guide
Migration guide
Your pilot proved Lena’s value and you’re ready to move. Here’s how the switch works, whether you’re coming from another LMS or from paper and spreadsheets, and how our team runs it with you.
Before you start
Three decisions to make first
Every migration starts with the same three questions. We’ll work through them with you on your first call.
- 01Bring your existing courses, or start fresh?
- 02One shared structure, or flexibility for each department?
- 03When do teachers and students move, and how will you tell them?
Your courses
Start from what you already have
Moving from an LMS? Most schools bring over this term’s work and keep the old system read-only as an archive. No LMS yet? We build your classes from the lists you already keep.
Import active courses
We bring over current courses, rosters, materials and grades from Google Classroom, Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard, mapped to the right classes and teachers.
Start fresh
Use the move as a clean slate. Teachers rebuild only what they need, and the old system stays online for reference until your contract ends.
Build from your lists
Send us your class lists, timetables and schemes of work as spreadsheets or documents. We set up classes and rosters, and help teachers publish their first courses.
Your structure
Decide how much to standardise
One shared structure
Your office sets up terms, departments and grading the same way for everyone. Reporting is simpler and every class looks familiar.
Room for departments
Faculties and departments set up their own courses inside a shared structure. Common in universities and polytechnics.
Your timeline
A typical move takes about a month
Set up
Structure, sign-in and rosters, done with our team.
Teachers
Teachers get access and publish their first courses.
Students
Students sign in and find their first week’s work.
Go live
The old system goes read-only. You’re on Lena.
Book your migration
We’ll do the heavy lifting
The move itself is our team’s work, not yours. Tell us what you use today, another LMS or paper and spreadsheets, and when you want to start, and we plan it with you from there.
- Importing courses and rosters
- Setting up sign-in
- Training for your admins
- A guided first week for teachers
- Fee relief while your old contract ends
