Account Deletion Request

If you wish to permanently delete your Lena Africa account and associated data, please follow the steps below. This process is irreversible and will result in the permanent loss of your account and data.

How to Request Account Deletion

Method 1: In-App Deletion
For Lena Student App (Mobile)
  1. Open the Lena Student app

  2. Click on your profile picture

  3. Select "Security"

  4. Choose your deletion option:

    • "Delete your school profile" - Removes your data from a specific school only

    • "Delete your account" - Permanently deletes all your data across Lena

  5. Confirm your password to complete the deletion

For Lena Teacher App (Web)
  1. Open the Lena Teacher app

  2. Click on your profile picture

  3. Select "Security"

  4. Choose your deletion option:

    • "Delete your school profile" - Removes your data from a specific school only

    • "Delete your account" - Permanently deletes all your data across Lena

  5. Confirm your password to complete the deletion

For Lena School App (Web)
  1. Open the Lena School app for admins

  2. Click on "Security"

  3. Select "Security"

  4. Choose "Delete account"

  5. Follow the confirmation prompts to complete the deletion

Method 2: In-App Deletion

If you cannot access any of the apps, you can request account deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to: privacy@lena.africa or support@lena.africa (or your support email)

  2. Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"

  3. Include the following information:

    • Which Lena Africa app you use (Student, Teacher, or School app)

    • Full name associated with the account

    • Email address used for registration

    • Phone number (if applicable)

    • Type of deletion requested:

      • School Profile Deletion: Remove data from specific school only

      • Complete Account Deletion: Remove all data across Lena Africa

    • School name (if requesting school profile deletion)

    • Reason for deletion (optional)

What Data Will Be Deleted

Complete Account Deletion

When you delete your entire account across all Lena Africa platforms, the following data will be permanently removed:

  • Profile Information: Name, email address, phone number, profile picture

  • User-Generated Content: Posts, comments, messages, uploaded files, assignments

  • Preferences and Settings: App settings, notification preferences

  • Activity Data: Usage history, search history, interaction logs across all schools

  • Authentication Data: Login credentials, authentication tokens

  • School Associations: All connections to schools and classes

School Profile Deletion

When you delete your profile from a specific school, the following will be removed:

  • School-Specific Content: Posts, assignments, grades, and interactions within that school

  • Class Memberships: Enrollment in classes at that specific school

  • School Activity Data: Usage history and interactions within that school

  • School-Specific Settings: Preferences related to that particular school

Note: Your main account and data from other schools will remain intact with school profile deletion.

Data That May Be Retained

For legal, security, or business purposes, we may retain certain data for limited periods:

  • Transaction Records: Financial transactions (retained for 7 years for tax/legal compliance)

  • Legal Compliance Data: Data required by law (varies by jurisdiction)

  • Aggregated Analytics: Anonymous, non-personally identifiable usage statistics

  • Security Logs: Fraud prevention and security incident logs (retained for 2 years)

Data Retention Periods

  • Most Personal Data: Deleted immediately upon account deletion

  • Backup Systems: Removed from backups within 30 days

  • Transaction History: Retained for 7 years (legal requirement)

  • Security Logs: Retained for 2 years maximum

  • Anonymous Analytics: May be retained indefinitely (cannot be linked to you)

Processing Timeline

  • Account Deactivation: Immediate upon confirmation

  • Data Deletion: Completed within 30 days

  • Backup Removal: Completed within 30 days

  • Email Confirmation: You will receive confirmation once deletion is complete

Important Notes

Warning: Complete account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • Complete Account Deletion: You will lose access to all content and data across all Lena Africa apps and schools

  • School Profile Deletion: You will only lose data from the specific school, but can still access other schools and your main account

  • Any premium subscriptions will be cancelled with complete account deletion (no refunds for unused periods)

  • You will need to create a new account if you wish to use Lena Africa services again after complete deletion

  • With school profile deletion, you can rejoin the same school later

  • Some data may remain in our systems for legal compliance purposes as outlined above
